Walter and the team would like to give a special thank you for all the people who have donated to date, as they have already reached their initial target! But they would like to exceed this target by as much as possible so all the extra donations can go to Cystic Fibrosis.
The team have been getting good mileage from their batteries, as they have encountered plenty of large hills. Some days they will get 100km from a single battery using low to med pedal assist mode, other days they are using 2 full batteries to cover a similar distance – this really depends on the terrain and the amount of assistance needed from the motor.
Eleanor has now left the team and has returned to her base in Brisbane. She urgently contacted me on her return to say that the team needed some spare brake pads for the Shimano Disc Brakes – I immediately contacted Walter and told him to check the spare parts kit as we had included an extra 8 sets of pads which will cover the 4 bikes for the 5000km journey – Walter reported back to say pads have been found!
Andrew has now joined the team in place of Eleanor. He quickly familiarised himself with the ZOCO Electric Bike, adding his own personal touches in preparation for his leg of the journey. He is going to have some fun on this bike!
